The ASCII Chart Desk Accessory opens a window & builds a chart displaying all 256 chars. The ASCII Chart menu can be used to change the displayed font and size (9, 10, or 12 point only). This feature makes it easy to see all characters in a font at a glance; especially nice for picture fonts.
Type a character or click on a character’s cell to select that character and show its hexadecimal and decimal equivalent along with what the DA considers to be the simplest way to type that character. Additionally, up to 255 characters can be pasted from the clipboard to the chart, causing each character to highlight in sequence. Click the mouse or press a key after a paste to abort the display. Hold down the shift key during a paste to speed up the display.
Option-click on a character to copy it to the clipboard or use the standard cut/copy commmands to copy the currently selected character. Hold down the shift key to append a character to existing clipboard text when cutting/copying.
Press the command key to display the currently selected character at 72 point.
Click on the copyright notice to display some (very) terse usage info.
The current position of the window and the displayed font and size are saved when the window is closed.
